Illinois Tax Power of Attorney Form (IL-2848)
The Illinois Tax Power of Attorney (Form IL-2848) is a document the Illinois Department of Revenue provides for taxpayers who want to nominate a Representative/Attorney-in-Fact to act on their behalf for tax matters. The taxpayer has two choices regarding the powers they wish to grant their Representative:
- A General Appointment: Grants the Representative full power of attorney to perform any act that they “can and may perform.”
- Specific Appointment: Grants the Representative power of attorney to receive and discuss with the Department confidential information for the tax matters listed and to perform the additional acts indicated in the form.

Signing Requirements – The Department requires the signature of both the taxpayer and their Representative.
